The charming Stonehedge Gardens (3405 Cascade Avenue, Hood River; 541-386-3940) dinner house is a pleasant one-hour jaunt east of Portland on Interstate 84. At the end of a short gravel road, the romantic setting includes a fireplace, cozy tables, wood-paneled walls and a spectacular outdoor garden. The alfresco site is a popular wedding venue; the ceremonial area is even framed with a heart-shaped shrubbery. The menu usually features well-priced, delicious specials such as authentic French onion soup, halibut and rack of lamb. The regular menu offers such tempting plates as a garlic mushroom dish, Thai-style crab cakes, spicy peanut chicken, steak Diane, wild salmon and pork scaloppini. As a finish to a memorable meal, try the flaming bread pudding topped with crème brulée and served tableside.

We met last Saturday morning:  I am the mother of Saturday's groom, Alex
M.  I just need to tell you both what a truly excellent job you did
with our wedding.  It could not have been more lovely, including the CLEAR
skies after all the preparation for rain!  The beautiful garden setting, the
food (fabulous job on the salmon, which is not easy for a crowd), the
gracious service, the "special cocktails," all was perfection.  Hats off to
you, you clearly love what you do, as there's no other way to do it so well.
